It's a small world
I found this website today when I was looking up random things about Christmas. It shares Christmas traditions of cultures around the world. It's an interesting read and would be fun to implement some of the traditions practiced around the world here at home one year for a great lesson in world culture. Though you won't find us trying the Yugoslavian tradition of tying the parents' feet to a chair anytime soon. That's just asking for trouble!

We actually do lots of multicultural things at Christmas - my kids are visited by Saint Nicholas on December 6th (my husband is mostly Dutch), we make saffron buns on Saint Lucia, AND they get gifts from the Three Kings on January 6th. Oh, and we make Nanimo Bars and Butter Tarts, the most Canadian Christmas treats!

Beck - how fun to have so many great things you do with your kids at Christmas that help them stay familiar and excited about their heritage!

This is a terrific link! I'm printing off Poland and Russia, because we're in contact with a pastor in both of those countries. I've always enjoyed incorporating the traditions of other nations at Christmas. One year, we hosted a neighborhood party and I asked people to bring foods from their homelands. In the door walked Greek baklava, Chinese eggrolls, and Texan BBQ, to name just a few. Fun!
